Spaceman Motor Amp Draws

Motor Amp Draws

Documentation :: Motor Amp Draws

Introduction

When diagnosing potential machine issues, it can be helpful to disconnect the belts from the motor and confirm the motor amp draws.  The below chart indicates the ideal amp-draw that should be measured on the motor for each model when the motor is under no load.   You should be able to measure the same no-load amp draw with the belt disconnected, as well as when the motor is running with nothing in the cylinder and the motor only driving the gear reducer.

If you experience a high-amp draw with the belt off, the motor is likely bad and needs replacing.  Please see the Soft Serve: Troubleshooting 3 Phase MotorSpaceman SS: Troubleshooting 1-Phase Motor, or FB: Troubleshooting 1-Phase Motor article for more information.  If you experience nominal amp draw with the belt off, and high amp draw with no load on the gear box, the belt is too tight or the gearbox is bad and needs to be replaced.

Model (all configurations)
No-Load Amp Draw
SM-6210-C
3.4 - 4.5A*
SM-6236-C
1.1 - 1.4A
SM-6235-C
1.1 - 1.4A
SM-6250-C
1.1 - 1.4A
SM-6378D-C (single phase)
1.1 - 1.4A
SM-6650-C
1.6 - 2.1A
SM-6690-C
1.2 - 1.8A
SM-6455-C
1.6 - 2.1A
SM-6695-C
1.2 - 1.8A
SM-6795-C
1.2 - 1.8A

Note: On a 6210-C, the motor amp draw will increase with the compressor on.  When setting viscosity, the viscosity must be set higher than the no-load amp draw with the compressor on, usually above 4.25A
