How-To Guide :: Soft Serve :: Programming Inverter

Spaceman soft serve machines transitioned to soft-start three phase motors beginning in 2020.  This change began with models that have a -C in the model name.  These newer models have a power inverter that converts single-phase 220VAC power to drive a 3-phase 220VAC motor.  When replacing the inverter, it may be required to program the new inverter to have the appropriate settings for your machine.  For information on how to replace the inverter, please see the SS: Replacing Inverter article.

Button Functions

1. Set: The set button allows you to enter the programming mode and enter the various programming menus.  There are several programming modes:  b0, b1, c0, c1, E0, E1, etc.  Within each programming mode is an option:  b0.01, b0.02, b0.03, etc.  Press Set to Enter into programming, and then again to enter the desired programming menu.
   
2. Arrows: The arrow buttons allow you to cycle through the various programming menus and menu options.
   
3. Func: The Function button allows you to exit back out of the menus and menu options to the home screen.
   
4. Run: Allows the unit to be tuned during programming, and turn the motor on and off.
   

How to Program the Inverter

1. Factory Reset the Inverter to Rexroth settings.  
   

1. Press the Func key repeatedly until the b0 program menu appears.
   
2. Press Set to enter the b0 menu, and then use arrows to scroll to the b0.10 program setting.  Press Set to modify the value.
   
3. Change the b0.10 value to 1, Press Set to Save
   

2. Unlock Advanced Settings.  
   

1. Press the Func key repeatedly until the b0 program menu appears.
   
2. Press Set to enter the b0 menu, and then use arrows to scroll to the b0.00 program setting.  Press Set to modify the value.
   
3. Change the b0.00 value to 2, Press Set to Save
   

3. Program the Motor Settings to the Inverter.  Press the Func key repeatedly until the b0 program menu appears.  Use the arrow keys to change to the C1 menu and press Set to enter.  Program the following settings using the information on the motor name plate:
   

1. C1.05 set to: Motor rated Power (Ex. 750W)
   
2. C1.06 set to: Motor rated Voltage (Ex. 220V)
   
3. C1.07 set to:  Rated Motor Current (Ex. 5.0A)
   
4. C1.08 set to:  Running Frequency (Ex. 60 Hz)
   
5. C1.09 set to:  Rated Motor RPM for Running Frequency. (Ex. 1800 RPM)
   
6. Finally, set C1.01 to:  1.  Press Set to Save.
   
7. Tune the Inverter to the New Settings
   

1. Press the Func key repeatedly to return to the home screen.
   
2. Press the Run button to tune the inverter.  The tune screen will appear briefly.  Wait until the code disappears before proceeding.
   

4. Change Settings of the Inverter to Spaceman Factory Defaults
   

1. E0.00 set to:  1
   
2. E0.01 set to:  1
   
3. E0.02 set to:  1
4. E0.08 set to:  60
   
5. E0.09 set to:  60
   
6. E0.26 set to:  2
   
7. E0.27 set to:  2
   

5. Set the Protection for the Inverter.
   

1. E1.01 set to:  34
   
2. E2.15 set to:  25
   
3. C0.29 set to: 200
   
4. C0.30 set to: 5
   
5. C1.69 set to: 1 or 2*
   
6. C1.70 set to: 200
   
7. C1.71 set to: 5
   
8. Model SM-6378U Only: E1.01 set to: 34 *Note, this is not set for most SM-6378 models, U models only.
   

6. Press the Func key repeatedly to return to the home screen.  The machine is now ready to be tested and run.
   
7. Change settings of the inverter to Spaceman Factory Defaults - E0.07 set to:  60
   

*For setting C1.69, if your model serial number is 190000 or above, set this setting to 1.  For lower serial numbers, please contact Spaceman technical support for guidance.
