Training :: Soft Serve :: Purging and Priming

Priming your machine is crucial to the machine's operation. Not following these directions will result in damage to the machine and its components.

Gravity Fed Soft Serve Purge and Prime Guide

1.      Start with a clean lubricated machine with the air tube removed.
2.      Pour no-rinse food-grade sanitizer into the hopper and put it in wash mode for 5-10 minutes (2 gallons per hopper). Dunk the air tube into the sanitizer water in the hopper.  (Do not touch the hopper agitator with the air tube)
3.      Empty sanitizer then press RESET.
4.      Ensure the white plastic air tube is out of the hopper.
5.      Pour in about a gallon of product.
6.      Pull on the dispensing handle to purge the rest of the sanitizer until a solid flow of product runs through. Release the dispensing handle.
7.      Pour in the rest of your product.
8.      Lift up the prime plug on the top of the dispensing door (NOTE: In single-cylinder models, the priming plug is located on the top left side of the dispensing door. In two-cylinder models there is a plug on both the top left and top right of the dispensing door).  Once a steady stream of product is achieved push the plug back down.
9.      Add the white plastic air tube back into the hopper. Ensure that the side with the small pin-hole-sized hole faces up and the large product hole faces down.
10.  Press RESET then FREEZE.

*Reinserting the air tube before priming the machine can lead to freeze-up and motor overloads.

Air Pump Purge and Prime Guidelines

*Before disassembling the machine to clean, make sure to depressurize the air pump. Once the product has been emptied from the machine, you want to make sure the machine is off then pull down on all three handles with a bucket in front of them. There will be a spray of product and once that has calmed down, you can release the handles, it has been depressurized, and you can continue to break the machine down.
